The Adventure Pack
We took advantage of the overcast weather and walked on the paved paths around and near Wonderland Lake today. It's not very shady there - something I've had to take note of during the hot summer we've had - but that didn't matter on a day like today. Rucksack was raring to go from the beginning. We came across several magpies by the lake that got him, Coco, and Benny all pretty worked up. Oliver was less interested in the birds. The pack did a good job of walking in formation today, each staying in his or her spot - which helped keep Oliver's packmates from inadvertently stepping on him. There was one time Oliver snuck underneath Rucksack but we were standing still at the time so it was easy to lure him back through without getting tangled. We made several pit stops along the way for everyone to get a good sniff of the new terrain.
The Play Pack
Lincoln was in a much better mood than he was when I took him out over the weekend. Instead of hanging by the gate and trying to slip out when others left the park, he happily chased tennis balls and wandered the park with the pack. Benny was really into Lincoln today and spent a lot of time nibbling and pawing at him while Lincoln hopped around to dodge him. Coco and Benny both gave Lincoln a good chase for a bit, too. Aside from chasing Lincoln and her m.o. of playing fetch, Coco had a great time playing tug-of-war with Benny over a soccerball. Meanwhile, Charlie ran the fastest I've ever seen him as he played with a fluffy black dog who I've seen before but whose name has escaped me. The black dog turned the tables on Charlie by using the lie-in-wait technique and then pouncing on Charlie when he got close; that's Charlie's favorite move to use on Coco.
