The Adventure Pack
Rucksack was back from his hiatus today and his packmates were happy to see him. He and Coco had a good long bout of tug-of-war over a stick today. After a while, Rucksack gave up and let Coco keep it but then returned to have another go at it a short while later. They walked side-by-side, each holding one end, for a while. Wesley and Benny didn't get involved with the tug-of-war match. Wesley followed his usual routine of staying close, not wandering much from the trail, and coming over to lean on me whenever we took a break. Benny was slow again today and lied down a couple times when he was on leash. When we got back to the car, he was periodically getting startled and yelping/whimpering without being provoked at all by his packmates and without any obvious external cause. I was concerned about the posssibilty that he was experiencing some kind of internal pains so we made a trip to his vet and he got checked out this afternoon. Wesley and Coco were still with us and they came into the room with Benny when the doctor first looked him over. They behaved themselves very well and I think Benny appreciated having his packmates for company. Hopefully he's doing alright.
The Play Pack
Charlie and Coco had their usual run together, spotted with brief wrestling matches. Maverick watched them and seemed to almost want to get in on it a few times but didn't do more than prance around a bit at a distance. Later on, Maverick found a Collie mix who he had some fun with. He likes to have standoffs with other dogs and then dance around playfully. It reminds me of the way Mogul plays with other dogs but Maverick is a little bit vocal.
