The Adventure Pack
Benny got to spend most of the hike off leash with Wesley today and he did very well. He trotted along with his on-leash packmates, just a bit off the side of the trail, sniffing intently at everything we passed. At one point, when we crossed over a small, open field, Benny had a burst of energy that he didn't know what to do with so he just ran around in circles for a couple minutes. Coco and Rucksack watched intently, forgetting they were on leash and waiting for the right moment to pounce on their packmate. Wesley was feeling more mellow and just watched calmly while Benny did his thing.
The Play Pack
Benny, Coco, and Charlie all ran together with a few other dogs for the first part of our visit. The whole crew of them went full speed around one half of the park with either Coco or Charlie at the lead for most of the time. Later on, Benny played keep-away from a black dog with short fur, white paws, and a docked tail, using a rope toy for the bait. Coco joined in and then tried to get Benny interested in the tennis ball I had been throwing for her. Benny was easily distracted and readily gave up the rope toy for a chance at the tennis ball Coco flaunted in front of him. Benny periodically lied down in ambush position and waited for the right moment to charge after Coco, after which a short chase would ensue.
