The Adventure Pack
Rucksack had his first day off-leash in a few weeks, aside from the time I let him off for just a short bit earlier in the week. He did very well with coming back to me when I called and not straying too far. He was ecstatic when I first let him off and he leaped and bounded all around. His excitement rubbed off on Wesley, who was off-leash with him, and the two of them romped around together. Benny and Coco did well on-leash today. Benny will be getting an opportunity to prove his good behavior soon. He's just been back on leash for the past week or so. Coco has run into a couple road blocks and will probably be spending a little more time on the leash during the hikes before I give her another opportunity to behave off-leash. She likes to play "catch me if you can" sometimes and combined with her tendency to bark at strangers she has a little work to do before I can totally trust her on the trails, but she's easy to manage when she's on-leash.
The Play Pack
Coco and Charlie played together a lot at the park today. They both have so much energy, they make a great play pair. A Border Collie named Sonic played with the two of them for a while. Coco and Sonic started getting a little too intense so Sonic's human and I split them up and calmed them down, and then I played fetch with Coco and Brady in another part of the park. A few times, Charlie, Coco, Brady, and Benny all got into a chase together with either Charlie or Coco at the lead being pursued. Brady had fun with Charlie for a bit when Charlie flopped onto his back in front of him and kicked his legs around. Brady got really excited and pounced around on top of Charlie. Benny periodically joined in with Coco and Charlie's running - nipping playfully at his packmates' backsides. I tried throwing tennis balls for him a few times but he was too slow to narrow in on them and always got beat to the punch by either Coco or Brady.
