The Adventure Pack

Wesley and Oliver enjoyed their time off leash during today's hike, sniffing and exploring but staying close by.  Neither of them ran around very much, but the wet trails left both of their long coats pretty muddy on their undersides nonetheless.  I worked with Coco and Benny a bit on walking on-leash without pulling - Coco tends to pull ahead sometimes and Benny tends to pull off to the side of the trail.  It says interesting things about their personalities, that Coco wants to press on and see new things while Benny is easily diverted and tends to linger.  When we dropped Oliver off, his Dad was there and Coco growled at him when he came up to the car.  She's been wary of other hikers occassionally, but I haven't seen her in a situation with a stranger approaching the car before.  Apparently it's something she needs some work on.  She was clearly nervous about it.

The Play Pack

Yesterday, Brady was a little randy with a couple other dogs; today, it was the other way around.  Cooper, a chocolate lab who I've seen interested in several other dogs, followed Brady around, hovering with his head held just over Brady's back, occasionally nibbling at him.  A black pug named Tex was also interested in Brady and the two of them danced around and played a bit.  Eventually, though, Tex just kept trying to mount Brady so we moved to the other end of the park and played some fetch.  Meanwhile, Benny had a lot of fun playing keep-away from Coco with a stick he found.  Benny also danced around the Old English Sheepdog mix who's also named Benny.  The older (Sheepdog) Benny is a bit of a grump, and Benny had fun coming up and nosing him and testing his limits, then bouncing away with a goofy gait whenever he got a rise out of him.
