The Adventure Pack

Early in the hike, Coco walked up a ahead a little bit, sniffing the trail all the way, while Mogul hung back, lingering to get a good smell of choice spots.  Every so often, Mogul would suddenly pop up and come bounding past me to give Coco a short chase and then they would both fall back into their preferred positions.  Later on, Toskey found a stick to tease Coco with.  After a short chase, Coco snagged the stick out of Toskey's mouth mid-stride when they were running side-by-side.  Mogul played the guarding game that he sometimes plays with Coco, but this time he was guarding his spot from Toskey.  Toskey tried to tease him away and steal his position from him but Mogul was on his game.

The Play Pack

Osiris is such a friendly, happy-go-lucky guy.  Most of the dogs he met today sensed his friendly intentions even if he was 20 times their size and he frolicked with a lot of different dogs.  There were a couple dogs who were intimidated by his size and reacted by trying to scare him off; but he just trotted along beside them with a big grin and gave them curioius sniffs.  One of those dogs was Bella, a German Shorthaired Pointer who Coco likes to play with.  Coco discovered the same huge chunk of bark that she had fun with a couple weeks ago and Bella's human threw it several times for the two of them to fetch.  Whoever picked it up first then pranced around proudly for a couple minutes before dropping it.  Mogul found several playmates to dance with throughout our visit.  One was a park regular named Brewster who was lying down and chewing a stick.  Mogul walked up to him and stood facing him from about 2 feet away.  Brewster stopped chewing his stick and the two of them just stared at one another with their tails wagging ever-so-slightly.  Their standoff lasted several minutes and was punctuated with occassional, quiet "woof"s from both parties.  They seemed like they both wanted to play but both wanted the other one to make the first move - it was hilarious!  Mogul eventually grabbed up Brewster's stick and tried to tease him with it, but by that time Brewster had lost interest and wandered away.
