The Adventure Pack

The day started off cold and windy, and that's apparently exactly how Mogul likes it.  He was very playful again on our hike today!  Rucksack started right off by finding a good big stick to carry and before long Mogul came running toward him in arch-backed leaps.  Mogul's size and the direction and purpose with which he ran was enough to make Rucksack drop his stick and flee.  Later on in the hike, when Coco and Fletcher were off leash together, we passed by the spot where Mogul and Coco have played their guarding game.  It seemed like Coco was trying to play the same game with Fletcher by taking an alert stance and watching him approach the pass; but it didn't last long as Fletcher just trotted right by her and brushed off Coco's attempt to jump in the way and scare him back.  I guess Coco just doesn't have as imposing of a presence as Mogul.

The Play Pack

At the park, Benny was instantly drawn back to Cooper, the chocolate Lab who got his attention last week.  Cooper didn't try mounting him anymore.  Instead, Benny just kept pawing at him and jumping up on his side.  Cooper was ambivalent, sometimes mouthing back at Benny playfully and sometimes giving a growl and knocking Benny off of him.  I drew Benny away but he ran back across the park twice to see Cooper again before finally relenting and moving on.  Coco and Benny ran and wrestled together a lot during the rest of our park visit.   Brady chased a few tennis balls down but he wasn't as good as usual about bringing them back and instead just brought them further away, dropped them, and then got interested in seeing what other dogs were up to or investigating a smell.  Mogul had fun chasing tennis balls today, too - something he hadn't partaken in for a while.  He even brought the ball all the way back to me once, which has been a particularly rare event!  He also found a grown up Rhodesian Ridgeback mix who got him going and he spun while the other dog play-bowed and batted at him.  Later on, Coco's old friend Bella, a Pointer who she hasn't seen in over a month, showed up and the two of them had a great time wrestling around with one another.  Meanwhile, Brady danced around with Benny and then got a few dogs to chase him for a spurt.
