The Adventure Pack

It's been over two weeks since the Mountain Lion sightings at Sanitas and the warning sign is gone, so the pack got to move on to new terrain today.  Coco and Wesley ran around with one another for a few minutes at the beginning of the hike; but after that, they and Rucksack were too busy exploring the scenery and weren't interested in playing with one another.  Wesley and Rucksack both gathered a lot of botanical specimens along the way and will surely need a good combing.  We took the Anemone Trail and about halfway through our time we took a path back down.  I eventually realized that we were probably hiking down a dried up creek and not an actual trail when I noted how loose the dirt was, how high the sides were, and how many pinecones littered the way (they must have been floating down the creek when there was water and then settled when it dried up).  It turned out to be a much more direct route down and left us with a good deal more time, so we headed over to the red rocks before heading back to the parking lot.

The Play Pack

Brady gets so excited about fetching that he starts to whine if I wait too long to throw the ball, and once in a while he even barks to let me know how important it is.  Mable played with a puppy at the park today.  The two of them went back and forth for a little bit - the puppy batting his paws at Mable and then Mable jumping into his side - and then Mable decided she could be the boss and she started guarding the area under the picnic table from him.  She didn't mind other dogs coming in and out from under it, but whenever the puppy came over she chirped at him and ran him off.  The puppy kept coming back to tease her and it was a pretty funny scene.  Meanwhile, Fletcher and Coco ran around with a brown Collie mix.  Coco wanted to play fetch today but Brady and Fletcher kept beating her to the ball.  One time, though, I faked Brady and Fletcher out while Coco kept her eyes on me and knew I hadn't thrown the ball yet; then I threw it in another direction so she was able to get there first.
