The Adventure Pack

I planned on taking the pack to Mt. Sanitas for this month, but when we got there today I saw a sign posted about Mountain Lion sightings in the past couple days and it said that dogs shouldn't be let off leash there, so it looks like we'll be hiking in Chautauqua a little longer.  At Chautauqua, Coco and Rucksack romped and wrestled with each other even more than usual.  Wesley, who was on leash and rarely pulls at all, tried to run along with his packmates when they passed by on the trails.  Everyone was full of energy today!  We tried heading up the Mesa Trail, but there was a sign posted there about bear activity that said dogs were prohibited in the area, so we changed plans again and headed up the Flatironette.

The Play Pack

Fletcher and Coco took turns playing fetch throughout our park visit.  When they both wanted to fetch, Fletcher almost always made it there first, but sometimes he just poked the ball with his nose and then left it there.  Most of the time, though, he brought the ball back to me and dropped it at my feet.  Coco was doing a really good job of bringing back the balls that she chased down.  She hasn't been sitting on command as consistently as she did a month or so ago and she's been developing a habit of diving for the ball when I go to pick it up, so I worked on both issues by having her sit and wait after dropping the ball at my feet, and giving her a treat when she stayed sitting as I picked up the ball.  She's really into testing boundaries lately.
