The Adventure Pack
Coco and Rucksack hiked together this morning. As usual, they were both very interested in carrying sticks along with us. Coco often likes to steal Rucksack's stick, only to have him grab it back when she lets her guard down, at which point she harasses him for it again until he gives it up, and so on... But today, they passed their stick back and forth willingly, each dropping it more or less at the feet of the other when they were tired of carrying it, thus making a collaborative effort to bring it to the peak of our ascent, at which point they both decided to leave it behind. On the way back down they found a new stick and were back to their old thieving habits.
The Play Pack
Charlie had has first outing with the Play Pack today. He and Coco got along very well and wreslted around with one another throughout the entire visit, minus a few breaks they took to play with some of the other dogs there. Coco played with a cute little puppy named Nora. Charlie had a funny game he liked to play with the other dogs at the park. He would greet a new dog with his ears back and his body all wiggly and off-balance in a seemingly submissive display, and oftentimes he would even lie down in front of the other dog; more often than not, the other dog would take advantage of his submissive display and lean over him or even try mounting him, and then Charlie would immediately pop up and plant his paws on the other dog's back, turning the tables. This usually resulted in a bout of excited chasing and play wrestling. One German Shepherd, however, didn't get the idea and was very persistent about continuing to try to mount him instead of turning to play. Charlie was firm in letting the German Shepherd know that he wasn't interested in being dominated, but it took about a dozen attempts before he got the message across.
