Today was Wesley's first day out with the Adventure Pack! Wesley is a very sweet, almost 6 year old Golden Retriever. He got along well with Toskey and Coco. They weren't especially playful with one another, but they didn't have any problems at all either. Wesley did a good job of keeping up on his first day, though at one point about halfway through the hike when we had just about reached the highest part and were about to start heading back down, he grabbed the leash in his mouth. I wondered whether that was his way of saying "I think I've gone far enough". We continued on a bit further once he let the leash go, before turning back for our descent. Toskey made a few human friends along the trails today. While Toskey was being friendly, Coco was cautious; Toskey's new human friends were wearing hard-hats and carrying rakes and shovels for trail maintenance, which Coco seemed to find suspicious. She watched them carefully while we passed, and kept her distance. Meanwhile, Wesley trotted along right at my side.
We met a woman at the park today who recognized Coco from her neighborhood, and confessed that seeing Coco out in the yard is what inspired her to get a dog of her own, Elby! Elby is a six month old puppy who is brown like Coco, only a slightly lighter shade. The two of them wreslted around a lot with Buzz, who was very obliging in letting the two pups jump around on him. Buzz got up a couple times to have a run and be chased, which caught Rucksack's interest as well. Rucksack, Coco, and Elby all had a good run after Buzz, although Coco was actually more interested in chasing Rucksack once they got going.
