Adventure Pack

The parking lot was full but the trails weren't very busy at the Chautauqua this morning. The construction work has blocked off a lot of the parking, so not as many people can get to the trails.  Early on in the hike, Rucksack and Mamacita perked up and were staring intently into the distance while sniffing at the air.  Sputnik and Coco hadn't taken notice and I couldn't figure out what had caught their interest so we just continued on our way.  When we passed through the same area on our return, Rucksack, Mamacita, and Sputnik were all on alert and that's when I caught glimpse of a single deer crossing the trail up ahead.  Coco either didn't notice or didn't care, as she just followed along behind me while her packmates were all poised for action.

Play Pack

Much as the trails this morning, the Foothills Dog Park was mostly empty.  There were a few other dogs when we showed up and they were mostly interested in playing fetch.  After a couple loops around the perimeter, Coco and Colby both took an interest in playing fetch themselves.  Colby didn't bring the ball back on her own accord, but when prompted she would go back and grab up the ball she left behind.  Coco was less responsive to direction, and only returned with the ball when she felt like it.  In addition to the fetching, Colby went on some runs in an attempt to get Coco to chase her.  Coco did a lot less running than Colby and only joined in the run when Colby came near to her.  Meanwhile, Thompson and Stella were thoroughly checking out the perimeter of the park, and getting love and pets from the other two humans there.
