Adventure Pack

When the sun comes out, so do the hikers.  The Chautauqua was much busier today than yesterday, with people and dogs alike.  Sputnik has been doing a much better job at staying relaxed and not fixating on other dogs that we pass by, and today was a continuation of that positive trend.  Even when Sputnik and Mamacita both got a little bit excited about a Golden Retriever who was headed up the trail on our way down, there were no growls - just a little pulling at the leash.  Coco, Sputnik, and Mamacita all enjoyed eating a bit of snow off the ground when we walked through the park at the end of the hike.

Play Pack

Coco, Chunk, and Ruffers all had a fun time running around together and wrestling with each other at the park today.  Mamacita joined in for some runs with their packmates here and there, as did Colby.  Thompson hopped around playfully with Chunk a bit after Chunk bumped into him on a run with Coco.  Then, a scraggly-yellow-furred pup whom we often see showed up and kept Chunk busy wrestling around for a long while.  Coco played some fetch, while Ruffers and Colby played chase for a bit.  The pack was very active today!  Unfortunately, some of the activity was less fun and playful, as Coco decided one young man needed barking at and didn't relent until he was on the other end of the park and she was on a leash.  Meanwhile, Mamacita and Chunk both felt that if Coco thought there was something wrong with that guy, there must be something wrong with that guy; so, they chimed in a few times as well, though they weren't anywhere near as persistent as their packmate.  Then later during our visit, Colby assaulted a small black dog who appeared to be a Corgi mix.  Thompson had been spending a lot of time hanging out with the Corgi mix beforehand and the two of them were getting on well.  The other pack members stopped by to say hello and everyone was calm and friendly, but for some reason when Colby went over she inexplicably thought it necessary to make some kind of point with him.  An unfortunate turn to what had started off as a very fun outing for everyone.
