Adventure Pack

We had a pleasant hike this morning. It was a bit windy but otherwise very nice hiking weather. We headed off the trail to allow some distance for nice, calm passings of other dogs, and Sputnik, Coco, Mamacita, and Rucksack all behaved themselves very politely. About halfway through our hike, Rucksack took a sudden, affectionate interest in Mamacita. For the rest of the hike, he kept trying to cross over to her because, apparently, her ears and neck were in dire need of being licked. Coco and Sputnik remained unaware of the importance of this mission, but Rucksack was steadfast in his resolve. Mamacita herself didn't mind the attention from her packmate but wasn't seeking him out, either.

Play Pack

Yoda is joining the Play Pack for the week and he had a good time with his packmates at the Valmont Dog Park this afternoon. Yoda generally followed Thompson's routine of wandering around calmly amidst the other dogs and people at the park, while Thompson himself did the same and Stella took her time plotting out the perimeter with her nose. Mamacita, Coco, and Colby all followed me pretty closely. Coco and Mamacita both enjoyed a wiggle in the dead grass at the north end of the park. Coco found a stick there and flailed it around in the midst of her flopping and wiggling, creating a very comical scene. Adding to the comedy was the contrast of Mamacita, standing only a few feet away, watching calmly with unenthused detachment. Meanwhile, Colby was occupied with sniffing around the area. Later in the visit, Colby and Yoda gave each other some playful looks and then Colby went for a run with Mamacita in pursuit. Stella met a big, young dog who play-bowed in front of her a few times. She didn't get too wild, but she seem interested in her new friend and followed him around briefly.
