Adventure Pack

Isaac joined Sputnik, Coco, and Mamacita on the trails today.  It was still pretty slick, though the ice in some areas had melted and a dusting of snow in other areas lended a little bit of friction to ice-covered stretches.  At one point in the hike, Mamacita started feeling very playful.  She bowed and leapt around Sputnik until she got him going.  As the two of them dodged around each other, Coco started taking notice and then joined in to make some playful moves of her own.  Meanwhile, Isaac was waiting patiently with me as his packmates got a bit of energy out.  When we reached the last downhill stretch of the trail, I had to keep the pack calmer in order to avoid slipping on the icy, slanted terrain.

We had a new member join the pack today: Colby!  Colby is a very sweet three-year-old female Viszla/German Shepherd mix.  She greeted her packmates one-by-one outside the car as she was the last of the afternoon group to be picked up.  Coco, Isaac, Thompson, and Ruffers all made friendly greetings and when Ruffers hopped back into the car, Colby was quick to follow her.  We walked the Boulder Creek Path this afternoon.  While the rest of the pack is used to the routine and trotted along calmly, Colby was very alert and kept looking all around us as we walked.  About halfway through the walk, a nice man asked to say hello to the dogs and each of them went up to sniff him in turn.  Thompson was the least eager to say hello and let his packmates all go first, but once he decided to go up he wanted all the attention and nudged Colby out of the way to get more pets.  At the end of our walk, back in the packmobile, Colby showed particular interest in Isaac as she sniffed at his face for a minute.  After that, Coco started sniffing intently at Colby's ears.  Colby got along very well with her new packmates, and I think they will be happy to go to the park together where they can really let loose and have some fun.
