Adventure Pack
We had another new dog join the pack this morning - Clover! Clover is a very sweet Golden Retriever who is the sister (by adoption) of our other new pack member, Monarch. Clover hopped right up into the car when we set out this morning, which encouraged Monarch to do the same, so nobody required any coaxing. On the trail, Clover was on her own agenda at first, though that was also true of Sputnik, Coco, and Monarch. Clover, Monarch, and Sputnik all spent some stretches trying to pull ahead, but everyone remained pretty easy to manage. Sputnik had an unfortunate, unfriendly moment with one passing dog who he felt was watching us a little too closely as they passed by, though his outburst only lasted about one second before he realized the other dog didn't care, and continued to trot along. Meanwhile, the rest of the pack remained calm and content as we passed that dog and others along the trail. Like her sister, Clover was curious about the CamelBak waterspout but taken off-guard when the water actually came out. Monarch is now drinking as long as I start by holding my hand under her chin for a moment at first. Once she gets going, she's pretty comfortable with it, and hopefully it will be the same with her sister before long.
Play Pack
As usual, Coco and Isaac followed me closely and played fetch for most of our park visit. The were both a bit put out by an exuberant Rottweiler puppy who jumped around in their faces until they were sufficiently irritated to send him off with a snarl. Even Thompson had enough and curled his lip a couple times while the pup followed him around and licked at his face. Ruffers was more welcoming of the attention and dropped into a couple play bows for him, but the puppy only seemed interested in bothering the dogs who didn't want to be bothered.
