Adventure Pack

We had a new member join the pack today: Monarch!  Monarch is a very sweet, 3-year-old, female Burnese Mountain Dog.  She got along well with both Sputnik and Coco upon first greetings.  She pulled a bit at the outset of our hike but fell into an easy position at my side before too long.  She, Coco, and Sputnik all thoroughly sniffed out several spots by the side of the trail together, with their noses all pressed together at the epicenter of odor.  Everyone was calm and happy as we passed other dogs on the trail, except for at one point when an approaching Wheaton Terrier stopped in place right in the middle of the trail and stared at us.  Coco, Sputnik, and Monarch all made quiet grumbles of uneasiness at the Terrier's attitude, so we walked off to the side of the trail to let them pass by without greeting.  After that, we snapped some group photos while Coco chewed on a stick, and we made our way back down to the car.  Monarch fit right in with her packmates and had a great time exploring Shanahan Ridge with them!

Play Pack

Ruffers and Isaac both had fun running around with the other dogs at the park.  Isaac held a tennis ball in his mouth and woofed as he ran alongside them, and Ruffers dropped into play bows and leapt all around to stir up some chases.  Coco played fetch and hung out around me throughout our park visit, though she also enjoyed greeting dogs who came over to us.  She was especially excited to greet a tall Husky who also had Ruffers feeling frisky.  They both leapt all around, flirting and trying to keep his attention.  Meanwhile, Thompson played stand-off with another Husky who was trying to feel him out.  They would stand should to shoulder and sniff each other until the other Husky started to make a move over Thompson's back.  Then, Thompson would hop to the side and throw his head as if to say, "Ha! Nice try!" and then they would step up close to each other again and repeat the process.
