Adventure Pack

Milo, Rucksack, Roger Roger, and Benny all enjoyed frequent breaks to sniff out vrious clumps of grass on our way along the trail this morning.  Each of them was first to pick out at least one spot that the rest of the pack then decided was worth more through investigation.  We came across a pair of white-coated Huskies early on in our hike whom we've encountered before, and every sniffed friendly greetings before we headed our separate ways.

Play Pack

Today was the first day of pack activities for our new pack member, Sanaya, a 5-year-old Husky/Malamute mix!  Stella, Milo, and Mamacita each hopped out of the packmobile in turn to greet Sanaya.  After briefly getting acquainted, Sanaya hopped in followed by her new packmates and we headed to CU South.  Mamacita and Sanaya walked side-by-side on leash while Milo and Stella followed us at their own pace.  Stella started lagging behind due to her interest in thoroughly sniffing and then marking spots every few yards or so.  We circled back for her whenever she fell too far back.  At first, Sanaya just wanted to keep walking on, but after we circled back a few times she seemed to pick up on the intention and was more compliant about circling back for our packmate.  Later on, Stella was a little too interested in a pile of horse poop and when I shooed her away from it, she ran off ahead with a gait that spoke of gleeful mischief.  When I called her back and she ignored me, Sanaya tried to help out by offering a few whiny barks at our misbehaving elder packmate, apparently imploring her to come back to the group.  Eventually, Stella relented, only to again turn around and run off as soon as I took a step in her direction.  When we caught up to the little old lady, she walked the remainder of the trail on leash.  Meanwhile, Milo trotted right alongside Sanaya and Mamacita the whole time even though he had the freedom of being off leash.  It was as if he was making a point about the contrast to make sure I appreciated how well-behaved he was being.
