Adventure Pack
Roger Roger again was a pleasant packmate for much of his off-leash time during today's hike; however, he again also began to bark at Milo when the two of them fell behind together. He broke off from his exercise in harassment more quickly today when I called him, for which Milo was thankful. On our way back, Milo and Rucksack both enjoyed getting their paws wet in the stream at the bottom of the Mesa trail. It's not very deep but at least it's not muddy. Benny was a better sport about the challenge of hiking uphill today and stopped in his tracks far less often than last week. I can empathize with him, though; I feel the burn in my lungs a bit when we first set out up the mountain, too.
Play Pack
Mamacita took a page out of Stella's playbook today and spent most of the afternoon wiggling around on her back in the grass. Sadie - and, of course, Stella - also partook in that particular pleasure. Sputnik wrestled around with his friend Huckleberry today. Huckleberry is around the same age as Sputnik and started coming to the park around the same time; however, Huckleberry didn't grow as much as Sputnik and Sputnik is still learning how not to be so pushy in his play, so I interrupted him a few times when he lacked either the awareness or self-control to relent and give Huckleberry a break. Thompson was drawn to the shady spots of the park but he didn't hesitate to step out and join the pack today when we walked around the park to different areas. Sometimes it takes a lot more convincing to get him to venture out into the sun.
