Coco had a good hike today. She met a few friendly dogs along the trail. I played hide-and-seek with her again and she started heading down the trail in the opposite direction from me for a second, but decided she was going the wrong way and turned back and found me - she's getting good!
We have a new Play Pack member: a 4-month old Miniature Pinscher/Chihuahua (maybe) mix named Hershey! He met Coco first, since we picked him up right after the hike, and he wasn't at all shy to meet her. Coco surprised me by playing the submissive roll and lying down to let Hershey jump around on her. She usually takes the dominant role in play and likes to try to pin other dogs, but she seemed to recognize that Hershey's youth and small stature called for gentler play. We then picked up Rucksack and headed to the park, where Rucksack had fun trotting around with a soccerball in his mouth alongside his pal Buzz. I also played a little fetch with him using a tennis ball, but when a bigger ball is around it's hard to keep his attention on anything else. Coco played with the same black puppy, named Sirius, that she's been seeing alot of lately. Hershey wandered around, getting acquainted with the park and the other dogs and people there, and then he joined in Coco and Sirius' wrestling. Hershey was mostly just interested in Coco, and Sirius got jealous and barked at him to give his playmate back. This ended up with Hershey in the middle of two hyper dogs, and he got a little scared and came to me. I had the other dogs back off for a minute so Hershey had a chance to relax again, and then he was fine and back to mingling.
P.S. - My website provider is having issues with their photo uploading, so I can't post any pictures right now; but they say the issue will be resolved on Monday, so I'll be posting some photos from yesterday and today then.
