Adventure Pack
The pack took an easy pace on the hike today. Everyone was very interested in thoroughly sniffing some spots out together at the beginning of the hike. Rucksack and Roger Roger negotiated stick-carrying priveleges again and Roger Roger came out with the object in question as usual. Mamacita, Milo, and Benny were all content with just hiking along and stuck to my sides without any interest in their packmates' stick.
Play Pack
Sadie, Coco, and Charlie all chased after a tennis ball together but once they all converged on it, none of them picked it up and brought it back. We tried a few times and they were all very excited to chase the ball down but then Coco would just end up tackling Charlie and Sadie would grab the ball only to drop it right back in place and then walk away. Meanwhile, Stella was conversing with a puppy who wanted to play. She was interested in the attention but gave a stern bark if the puppy ran up too close to her, as if to say, "Hey, watch it you crazy kid!" Benny gained the attention of a very energetic Viszla who tried desperately to get him to play. The Viszla kept bowing emphatically in front of Benny, nuzzling him under his chin, and poking at his hindquarters; but no matter how hard he tried Benny just wasn't in the mood. Benny just stood in place and tried to ignore the Viszla's concerted effort to get his attention. Meanwhile, Sadie found two puppies who were happy to play with her. The first played more of a wrestling style with her and they went on and on together until her friend had to leave. After that, she found another energetic pup who chased her in circles for a long while. Sadie made use of obstacles - like picnic table benches and the gap below the bottom of the shelter at the center of the park - to dart underneath and gain a bigger lead, knowing that her slightly larger pursuer was too big to slip through. Whenever he seemed to start to lose interest, Sadie ran up and gave him a nudge, and then the chase was on again, round and round.
