Adventure Pack
Roger Roger and Mamacita both crossed paths with some detached cactus balls on the side of the trail today. Each patiently waited while I pulled the prickly booby traps from their paws, thankfully not moving too much so I was able to avoid getting stuck too badly myself while I handled them. Later on, Rucksack and Roger Roger took turns carrying a small log - well, Rucksack wanted to share but Roger Roger had trouble with the part of the concept that involved letting his brother carry it for a while, and followed after him barking until Rucksack gave it back. So I told Roger Roger to drop it and gave it back to Rucksack and then walked Roger Roger on the leash. Milo enjoyed when we walked along a stream for a stretch of the hike and he waded upstream in the water as the pack walked alongside him on the bank. Benny followed dutifully at the rear of the pack throughout our hike. He wasn't interested in the stream and stayed dry the whole time but he was eager to get a drink each time we took a water break.
Play Pack
Thompson climbed into the kiddie pool for a quick dip today and then returned to the shady area to lie down within arm's reach of friendly humans. Stella enjoyed a wiggle on her back and then watched while I danced a small stick around but didn't go for it; however, Benny took an interest and nibbled on it a bit but I couldn't get him to fetch it when I threw it. Meanwhile, Sputnik was wandering around with other dogs at the park and got along with a young Dalmation. The two of them had a long standoff from halfway across the park, just crouching and staring at each other, waiting for the other to do something, with Sputnik periodically moving in a bit until he was close enough that he trotted over and the Dalmation gave a playful hop and then jogged off, inviting Sputnik to follow him.
