Adventure Pack
It was another hot day today and when we took a brief break in the shade Mamacita dug a little patch of dirt to lie in and cool down. Rucksack and Thompson opted to wander over to a nearby stream and get their paws wet. On the way back down, Milo took his turn in another stream we passed. Roger Roger stuck with me for the hike and didn't have enough energy to harass his packmates.
Play Pack
Isaac stayed on the leash for the first 10 minutes or so of our visit because he's been a bit too amped up when we first get into the park lately. On the leash, he kept his attention on me instead of trying to chase down every running dog in sight and keeping his packmates rounded up. After we walked the perimeter of the park, I let him off the leash and he was definitely a bit calmer (though still excited and eager) when we played fetch. Meanwhile, Benny was feeling social and had a couple low-key, but playful encounters with other dogs which involved some stand-offs and play-bows as well as a few foiled attempts by Benny to mount one dog. Sputnik gave a lot of kisses as he greeted unfamiliar dogs, and he had a stand-off/play-bow encounter of his own with another youthful dog named Bodhi. I was happy to see that he didn't try to bully his new friend into playing, but rather invited him with his posture and bows. They ended up not taking their play beyond those early negotiations, but it was a positive encounter nonetheless. Sputnik also played a bit of fetch along with Isaac and I had to throw the ball close to him now and then or else Isaac would have beaten him to it every time.
