Adventure Pack
Sputnik growled at the first dog who passed us on the trails today, and Oliver barked as well. Immediately afterward, I brought the pack to the side of the trail and had everyone sit to practice staying calm as more people and dogs passed by. There weren't a lot of dogs on the trails today but a few did walk by before we moved on. Sputnik watched very intently but he held back from growling at them. Oliver didn't bark at all and didn't even pay particular attention to the passers-by. Meanwhile, Rucksack, Roger Roger, and Benny were all curious and needed to be reminded to sit back down and stay together. Oliver stood up whenever his packmates did, even when he wasn't paying attention to the passing dogs. Even though Sputnik was the only one to stay lying down, his packmates didn't show the same intensity of focus on the dogs that passed.
Play Pack
Sadie ran around with a brown Labradoodle puppy who was surprisingly good at giving her adequate space despite his enthusiasm. After a bit, another pup joined in and when it became apparent that the other two were focusing on each other Sadie left them to it. Benny and Thompson got lots of love from the humans. At one point, Sadie brought a stick over to me and then she, Benny, Thompson, and a couple other dogs all came over to stare at me and nibble on it, requesting that I hand it over. After everyone thoroughly investigated this particularly interesting stick, I handed it back to Sadie and she pranced off with it.
