Adventure Pack
Roger Roger started off today's outing by sniffing and nosing at Milo's face, which Milo took in stride. Roger Roger started to squat in the middle of the sidewalk and I directed him off to the side and then lavished him with praise after he finished his business there. Oso enjoyed lying and stretching out in the snow when we took a break around the mid-way point. Coco got worked up over a dog who passed us, who was whimpering with anticipation about greeting the pack. We gave them a wide berth because the excitement/anxiety level was a bit too high for a greeting with a stranger. Rucksack trotted along pretty calmly even when we passed near some geese, which usually get his full attention.
Play Pack
Thompson rolled around in the snow again today and spent most of his time hanging out right in the middle of a group of park regulars. When an excited dog came bounding an wiggling over to the area, Benny gave a stern growl to inform the newcomer that he should approach the group in a less wild manner. It was a rare expression of authority from one of our most mild-mannered pack members. Isaac spent only part of our visit chasing tennis balls; he also rolled around in the snow (as well as in some puddles) and joined in several chases through the park. Sputnik also joined in for a chase that went on for a while before Sputnik firmly chest-butted the chasee from the side during a momentary breather. The other dog walked away calmly and Sputnik trotted along behind, watching closely, wondering why the game stopped.
