Adventure Pack

The wind was wicked this morning, and the droning seemed to put everyone in their own world.  Milo frequently veered off to check out interesting scents and mark them for future reference.  Rucksack and Roger Roger kept switching positions at my side, requiring numerous breaks to de-tangle their leashes.  Coco kept pausing to shake off the snow that blew onto us, which caused Benny to rear back so as to avoid getting whipped by his packmate's killer tail.

Play Pack

We had a new pair of dogs in the pack for today's park outing: Charlie and Coco!  Charlie is a 5-year-old Beagle and Coco is a 3-year-old Spaniel.  They both had very friendly greetings with packmates Benny, Thompson, and Stella when we first picked them up.  In the car on the way to the park, Coco seemed comfortable hanging out amidst the pack while Charlie hung back and seemed a little unsure.  Once we were at the park, however, Charlie had a great time running around, greeting other dogs there, and following the action.  Coco, on the other hand, stuck to my heel for a while and then spent most of her time getting pet at the feet of various humans.  Benny took a particular interest in Coco and tried to get her to play by bowing in front of her and then leaping away - but I think Coco was a bit intimidated by Benny's sheer size and she opted not to follow in pursuit of her Ridgeback packmate.  Stella wandered the whole park, stopping by to check in now and then, and heading off to greet newcomers or sniff around in the snow.  Thompson went for a few runs that I spurred on by chasing after him a bit.  I sometimes managed to get his other packmates' attention so they ran with him for short spurts.  Thankfully, the wind calmed down quite a bit while we were at the park so it was easier to enjoy the time out.
