Leader of the Pack

Coco is starting to take after her pal Rucksack; she tried carrying a stick that was bigger than her during our hike this morning!  She managed to drag it about 10 yards before she decided it was too much of a hassle.  I just posted a picture of her with it in the Pack Photos.

Coco followed Rucksack around the dog park again today, nipping at his heels all the way.  Rucksack did a good job fetching as usual.  He seems to have some trouble locating the ball if he doesn't have his eye on it the whole way, so I worked with him a little on tracing the location of the ball when I hide it behind my back.  It's just a first step, but he's still young and has plenty to learn about the more subtle workings of the dog world.  Coco is starting to respond pretty consistently to the "sit" command as long as there aren't too many distractions; and she's just started to fetch, too.  It will take a lot of repititions before she's consistent about it, but she did bring the ball back to me once and got a big treat for it.  It was a bit tricky distracting Rucksack (and some other dogs) long enough for Coco to get the ball without someone else stealing it away first, but I found opportunities where she could.
