Adventure Pack

Milo enjoyed exploring off the side of the trail again today and often hung well behind the rest of the pack to do so.  Benny was off-leash with Milo and he lingered about halfway between Milo and the rest of us in an apparent effort to keep the group together.  When Milo finished checking out the smells that interested him and jogged to catch up, Benny trotted up alongside his packmate.  Roger Roger has the habit of barking at his packmates when he first gets off the leash in an attempt to harass them into play but he is learning to be more polite.  Rucksack, however, still bears the brunt of Roger Roger's uninhibited attentions which involve a lot of gnawing on hind legs.  Coco wasn't very interested by the stick I offered her on today's hike and dropped it after less than a minute.  Benny snagged it up and carried it for a bit before passing it on to Rucksack, who kept it for the last leg of the hike.

Play Pack

We had a new pack member join us on today's park outing: Sadie Hawkins!  Sadie is a very energetic little Corgi, almost 6 months old.  She was a bit wary of greeting her packmates at first but was already warming up to them by the end of her first Play Pack.  At the park, she was greeted by park regular Remmie who tried to get her to play by barking at her.  Sadie responded by boldly chasing Remmie off, repeatedly.  A little while later, Sadie ran circles around Remmie and another playmate and then played rabbit in a chase.  The humans at the park all fell in love with her instantly.  Meanwhile, Thompson was lounging in the midst of the humans, the most comfortable and at ease I've seen him at the park to date, getting some love for himself.  Benny hopped around with park regular Brewster and a couple chocolate Labs (including Cooper, a friend who we see at the park every so often).  Mama found a new friend to wrestle around with and they went at it enthusiastically for a good long while.  Thompson joined in for a bit and had a playful, boundary-testing standoff with the new friend.  Sadie ran around them and then started following Mama around after the play settled down.  In the packmobile after our park visit, Sadie lied down over Thompson's hip before sliding off and taking a nap.  It was a big first day for our new little pack member.

Hi Greg- I doubt Remy will ever read your blog, but you never know since she's pretty smart- but I think she spells her name "Remy". At least Bill does. ;-P
