Rucksack had his first day of Pack Activities today!
I took a few minutes when I first picked him up to get him used to hopping into the car on his own, which he is now doing without a problem.
Although there were no packmates today (Chelsea's leg is hurt so she couldn't come out), we came across a yellow Lab and a yellow Labradoodle on the hike who we walked with for about the first half. Rucksack had a great time running around with these new friends, especially the other Labradoodle. For the second leg of our hike, he carried around a big stick that he found. Every so often he'd leave it behind, and I would tell him, "Go get your stick!" and he'd run over to it and grab it up. I used it as a walking stick for a little while and then gave it back to him to carry.
At the park, a chocolate Lab named Cooper, who is a regular, took a particular interest in Rucksack. He followed him about for a long while, with the two of them wrestling around here and there. Rucksack loves fetching and he's great at it! I'm impressed with how consistently he brings the ball all the way back and how readily he gives it up.
The fun Rucksack had today shows in all of the flora he now has in his coat. Hiking with him is like dragging a mop through the woods! He's going to need a good combing tonight. Tomorrow, he'll meet Mogul and (hopefully) Chelsea!
