Adventure Pack
Wesley and Osito spent the first half of our hike off leash. Osito walked a few paces ahead of the group, stopping and looking back every few steps along the way while Wesley brought up the rear. The pack started off with a refreshing dip in the creek and we made several water breaks so everyone stayed relatively cool. On the way down, Rucksack and Benny did more exploring in the brush between the trail and the creek. Rucksack loves to make friends and tried to join another group of hikers that passed us on the way down, although he was good about stopping and coming over to be with his packmates when I called him.
Play Pack
Mia made full use of a kiddie pool that one of the park regulars, Kate, brought for the pups to play in. Not only did she enjoy lying down and splashing around in it but she also had a blast chasing the stream of water from the hose used to fill it. Oscar spent a long while hanging out around a woman who was eating her lunch at the park. He didn't try to jump up on her - he just stood next to her, watching intently. The woman basically told him "tough luck" and then ignored him, which is the best way for him to learn not that it's not worth it. Benny and Milo were both very mellow today. THey each lied down on their sides for a while - Milo in the sun and Benny in the shade. I tried getting them interested in the pool but Milo couldn't have cared less and Benny was too wary. I lifted his paw and dipped it in the water when he was standing next to the pool and the sensation of the cool water made him jump and then eye the pool warily.
