The Adventure Pack

Coco slipped her collar and played catch-me-if you-can at the beginning of today's hike.  We kept changing directions to make her follow us until she stopped trying to play and came over calmly.  She spent the rest of the hike on the leash practicing better behavior.  Rucksack also practiced walking calmly on the leash today since he often tends to pull ahead.  By the end of the hike, they were both doing magnificently.  Wesley and Benny were calm and walking on loose leashes from the beginning of the hike, so the two of them got some off-leash time.  Benny took the opportunity to walk through the deeper snow and chomp on as much of it as he could.  Wesley plopped down right in the middle of the trail to wiggle on his back, to the amusement of a passing hiker.

The Play Pack

There was a black Lab at the park today who had everyone's interest.  I didn't see, but I'm guessing he wasn't neutered because every male dog in the park tried to hump him - including Benny, Milo, and Oscar.  After the Lab left, Milo still had an itch to scratch and tried mounting another dog who didn't pay him much mind and wandered off to the other side of the park.  Oscar has been doing much better in his greetings but had a relapse as he started barking at one of the humans.  He went back on the leash for a bit and we approached several other people nicely before he got to go play again.  Mia was very interested in digging through the snow to get to the dirt underneath, especially in the grassy part of the park.  When she wasn't busy with that, she was romping all over with various other dogs, full of puppy energy.
