The Adventure Pack

For the first time I've ever seen, Rucksack got tired out on the hike and lied down to wait behind me.  On other hikes, he's trotted over to some shade and lied down for a minute as I and his packmates caught up; but he's never stayed behind despite my urging him to catch up.  I'm not surprised, since our hike ended up taking over 2 hours because halfway down Mt. Sanitas we came upon a blockade across the trail for restoration and had to turn around and head back up the mountain to go down the way we came.  It may be that there was some other way down but I'm not familiar with the trails there and I didn't see any alternatives.  I had him roll over onto his back and sprayed his tummy with water to help cool him, and he was very glad to hop into the stream when we finally made it back down!

The Play Pack

Oscar ventured out into the lake beyond where he could stand today, and fetched a couple of balls that he had to swim for.  When it started thundering toward the end of our visit he seemed a bit anxious and clung closer to me than usual, but I got his spirits up for a little run around the perimeter before we headed out.
