The Adventure Pack
We saw a lot of dogs on our way down the Chautauqua Trail at the end of today's hike - a black Lab, a Husky, a Poodle, and a few others - and they were all very friendly, so the pack made many new acquaintances. Earlier in the hike, I was surprised that Coco was following along right behind me the way Wesley always does, instead of taking her usual position scouting the trail up ahead. Benny was very playful today and got Coco to chase him around a bit. Wesley made some human friends who were eating snacks alongside the trail; he lingered behind for a moment as the rest of us continued up the trail, but didn't get anything out of them other than a laugh. Rucksack was very good walking on a loose leash for the latter half of the hike, even with Coco and Benny running around and playing together nearby.
The Play Pack
When Oso gets excited, he whines more than any other dog I've ever known. As we were approaching the park entrance, another dog was just leaving and I had the pack sit in place to let him go by. While sitting there, watching the other dog go by, Oso made so many noises I couldn't help but laugh. Once in the park, Oso wandered around a bit and followed a Great Dane around for a bit before lying down in the shade. Benny was exhausted after running around with Coco on the hike earlier and just followed me around the park. Oscar played with a few puppies named Oberon, Charlie, and Rocky. At one point, Benny was lying at my feet under a picnic table and the puppies bumped into him. Benny is usually very easy-going but he was so tired that he was feeling grumpy and he gave a low grumble that startled the pups and sent them running.
