The Adventure Pack

At the start of the hike, we passed a 10-yard stretch where Coco, Benny, Wesley, and Rucksack all had their noses glued to the ground and each one of them thoroughly sniffed every inch, only taking one step every few seconds.  They ended up at a big rock that had them all sniffing for another minute.  Wesley peed on it and then everyone felt comfortable moving on.  Wesley followed Coco around, up and down the sides of the trail.  After a while, he fell back into his usual position - following right behind me.  No sticks for Rucksack today, or for any of his packmates either.  Everyone seemed to be feeling the heat and took it easy.  The snowy patches are dwindling now, but Benny still managed to get a few mouthsful.

The Play Pack

Whereas the pack this morning wasn't interested in sticks, the Play Pack couldn't get enough of them!  Coco found a stick to prance around with and it was soon stolen by Oscar.  Subsequently, Oscar found himself in a three-way tug-of-war with both Coco and Benny.  Meanwhile, Maverick was eyeing a stick of his own.  When I picked it up and threw it, he dove for it and then went to work gnawing on it for a bit.  Benny came over to check out Maverick's stick since there was less competition for it.  He gave it a sniff and stood over Maverick for a bit but didn't actually try to steal it away.
