The Adventure Pack
As we neared the end of today's outing, we passed over the stream by the Red Rocks trail and Benny and Wesley both waded around in it for a minute. When they were done, they both leapt out with a boost of energy and chased each other all around. Earlier, Sage and Benny were both spooked by a man in the stream, using a shovel to clear large rocks out of the stream bed. They both stopped in place and stared while Benny grumbled and Sage woofed, ...

The Adventure Pack
Oliver has been very excited to greet passing dogs, although we haven't come across any whose guardians let them linger lately. Benny has been slightly less stubborn about lagging behind and stopping in place when he's on leash. There were a lot of kids at Eben G. Fine Park today and Sage was a little bit on edge when we passed through, due to all the noise they were making.
The Play Pack
Benny made friends with a Ger...

The Adventure Pack
Wesley and Sage made several pit stops in the stream that intermittently crosses the Red Rocks trails, and waded around up to their shoulders together. Sage was quite comfortable with the people we passed on the trails; she didn't duck away or skirt around them like she used to do pretty regularly. Wesley was, of course, happy to greet passers-by - including a Great Dane who we came upon on our way back. They had a brief but friendly snif...

The Adventure Pack
Sage and Benny were the ones taking their time to peruse all of the smells that the path had to offer today, while Oliver was content to just walk along behind me and watch for when everyone was ready to move on.
The Play Pack
Benny ventured out the furthest into the pond that he's been yet, with the water halfway up his side. It almost looked like he was going to try swimming, but he ended up just sort of falling over...

The Adventure Pack
We took a very moderate pace today because the dogs, especially Benny and Toskey, were very interested in sniffing just about every inch along the side of the path. Sage joined in the sniffing for most of the time, too. She was much calmer through the walk than she was last week after that goose threatened her.
The Play Pack
After having spent a couple nights with me, Sage has realized that not every moment spent in m...

The Adventure Pack
When we passed the Kids' Fishing pond today, some ducks were floating around nearby and dipping their heads down so their butts stuck up out of the water in the air. Wesley apparently felt like they were daring him to come and get them, and he was more than willing to oblige - the leash kept him from making good on his intention, though; and though he would rather have lingered, he continued on with us without too much resistance. A short while...

The Adventure Pack
We was a flock of geese by the Kids' Fishing Pond along the Creek today, and Benny, Sage, and Oliver were all leaning toward them in interest as we passed. One of the geese turned straight to us and started hissing. It was enough to startle me and the pups, and Sage dove behind my leg for protection from the big, scary goose.
The Play Pack
Benny was much more comfortable in the water today and spent a lot of time...

The Adventure Pack
Rucksack carried a small log along for the entire hike today. He'd been slacking earlier this week but made up for it through his devotion to hauling along today's lumber in spite of needing to take frequent breaks in the shade to cool off.
The Play Pack
Oso stepped into the water a few inches deep today and then pawed at the surface of the pond to test it. Oscar went wild nibbling at Benny's elbows and jumping all ar...

The Adventure Pack
Rucksack had a bit of a limp when I first picked him up at his house today, but after several minutes of walking around it faded away and he had a great time walking the Creek. Benny kept stopping whenever we came by shade even in the first few minutes of walking. I think he does it more out of habit than necessity. Oliver got a little worked up about the first dog we passed and tried to sprint over, though I interrupted him. He was much...

The Adventure Pack
Rucksack had his first pack outing in two weeks and his excitement was obvious. He usually comes up to greet me eagerly with a little spring in his step but today he bounced over with even more enthusiasm than normal. On the walk, Rucksack and Toskey were both tempted by geese in the kids' fishing pond along the Boulder Creek Trail. Benny didn't pay the geese any mind, but he was searching the sidewalk for any poop they might have left behind....
