Adventure Pack

Milo spent a lot of time wading through the water as we lingered around the stream and Benny ran along the shoreline with happy enthusiasm.  Mamacita was very eager to get into the water as well and we took a moment to practice some self control so she didn't pull me down the rocks too quickly.  She eventually settled down a bit and then got to enjoy herself.  Later on, Roger Roger enjoyed nibbling Benny's ears until Benny had enough and whimpered wi...

Adventure Pack

Rucksack hauled a moderately-sized stick up the trail today and then left it in the middle of the trail to go splash in the stream.  Roger Roger happily took up stick-carrying duties and carried it most of the rest of the hike.  Eventually, however, Roger Roger grew tired and set it down and then I picked it up and offered it to Benny, who eagerly grabbed it but then dropped it within moments.  By that time, Rucksack's interest was renewed and he car...

Adventure Pack

Rucksack found a small stick to carry along with him on the trail today.  Roger Roger and Sputnik wrestled around with each other here and there.  Oliver lagged behind on the way up the mountain but was leading the way back down, while Benny spent a lot of time exploring in the brush off the sides of the trail.

Play Pack

Ruffers again found a playmate quickly and had fun running around while Thompson and Benny lounged a...

Adventure Pack

Rucksack thoroughly enjoyed splashing around in the stream again today while Milo wandered off into the woods for a bit, hidden behind dense foliage, before finally returning to the group.  After that, Thompson and Roger Roger both took a dip.  Roger Roger was very responsive when I called him back so we could move on, but Thompson wanted to linger as he made his way downcurrent, submerged up to his belly most of the way.  Mamacita got her feet wet, ...

Adventure Pack

Oliver led the way up Saddle Rock today while Benny brought up the rear.  Roger Roger and Sputnik enjoyed wrestling around a bit and when it was time to move on and behave they listened much better.  I still had to remind them several times as they were walking on leash, but I didn't have to physically separate them because they mustered up the self-restraint to back off of each other themselves - it looks like the pups are growing up!  Rucksack caug...

Adventure Pack

Rucksack and Milo took the first turn off leash today.  While Milo enjoyed standing in the running water, Rucksack really made the most of things by running through it and even jumping down a short (maybe 2') waterfall to splash in the deeper water below.  Later on, Roger Roger and Benny enjoyed each other's company as Roger Roger chased Benny around through the brush at the side of the trail.  Benny led his packmate in circles around trees and then ...

Adventure Pack

Roger Roger was really into harassing his big brother Rucksack as we hiked today.  He kept nibbling at Rucksack's nearest elbow and Rucksack eventually responded with an emphatic, pleading, high-pitched bark telling his little bro to cut it out.  It only stopped him momentarily, but then I stepped in to stop Roger Roger's incessant harassment and gave Rucksack some peace.  Mamacita drank from the spout with slightly less effort required to keep her f...

Adventure Pack

Oliver eagerly waited his turn for a drink from the CamelBak spout today and appears to have gotten over his hesitations about it.  He had a big grin as we hiked, especially as he led the way back down.  I was surprised when Rucksack and Roger Roger passed on a stick that looked to me like a prime find.  Sputnik practiced some more very pleasant greetings with the dogs we passed by.  Benny brought up the rear and got a lot of friendly greetings ...

Adventure Pack

The pack was very happy to spend some time in the creek at the Gregory Canyon trailhead today.  Thompson was understandably the most eager to hop in; Milo was the most content to stay once there - I almost thought he was going to let us leave without him.  No sticks for Rucksack or Roger Roger today.  Mamacita is still gradually getting more and more used to drinking from the spout.  Today, I had to straddle her to keep her from backing away fro...

Adventure Pack

Rucksack hauled a log up the mountain today.  Roger Roger wsa interested in stealing it from his older brother but Rucksack managed to hold onto it.  Sputnik made some friendly greetings alongside his packmates.  Benny made friends with a yellow Lab named Bear who splashed through a stream with him and wanted to follow along with us as we continued on.
