Adventure Pack
Milo again took to wandering off the trail today while Benny went back and forth between exploring alongside his packmate and checking in with the rest of the group. Mamacita was a bit ornery about passing skiers today so I had to keep a close watch on her to keep her from lunging at anyone. Roger Roger and Mamacita had a brief reprisal of their wrestling match from earlier in the week when they were both boarding together, but I had to break them up be...

Adventure Pack
Milo and Benny started off the hike off leash together. Milo wandered far off while Benny stuck close to the rest of the pack on the trail. Later on, we headed off the trail to a large, empty, parking area and I let Rucksack, Roger Roger, and Sputnik all off leash to enjoy the freshly fallen snow. Roger Roger and Sputnik quickly paired off for some chasing and dodging, but Milo and Rucksack joined in with them for some runs. After everyone w...

Adventure Pack
Thompson wandered far off across the field by the trailhead at South Campus at the beginning of today's hike. Thompson's wandering spirit seemed to inspire Milo, who also took a wide berth from the trail. As the hike went on, both of them gradually moved closer and closer to the group on the trail. Roger Roger was very interested in a stripped piece of bark that we came across, but had his fill of it in about 5 seconds and then left it behind....

Adventure Pack
Sputnik had a playful burst of energy about halfway through today's outing and Roger Roger entertained him for a brief bout of wrestling. Benny and Rucksack were tamer and let their puppy packmates keep each other busy.

Sadie was very vocal when we first arrived at the park but she settled down after I picked her up and cradled her for a couple minutes while other dogs came over to say hello. Then, her friend Scr...

Adventure Pack
Milo made friends with a young black Lab pup who was carrying a big stick along the trail. Milo grabbed ahold of it and helped him carry it a bit before things turned into a tug-of-war, which he let the puppy win. Benny didn't understand how skiing works and stood directly in the path of an oncoming cross-country skier, only stepping out of their way when the skis had already started to pass him. Rucksack and Roger Roger greeted passing dogs enthu...

Adventure Pack
Milo and Benny both stuck pretty close today, while Rucksack and Roger Roger sprinted in wide circles around the trail with Roger Roger in pursuit of his older brother. Roger Roger kept the barking to a minimum for most of the hike, which was great; but when he started incessantly barking and gnawing at Benny and Rucksack it was time to reinstate some order.

Adventure Pack
Milo sporadically broke out into bounds through the snow while mostly trotting along the trail with the rest of the pack. Even though Benny spent the hike off-leash, he stuck close to the pack throughout. Rucksack, Roger Roger, and Sputnik were all very excited to greet any passing dogs and ran up to engage in the obligatory sniffing. I was concerned that the other dogs might be overwhelmed by the pack descending upon them with such enthusiasm but...

Adventure Pack
Milo and Rucksack enjoyed tromping through the snow. Milo also chomped on some now and then. Roger Roger found a stick to carry for a short while. After Monday's excitement, Mamacita stayed on the leash and seemed content to do so; however, there were no trail groomers for her to charge into today.

Adventure Pack
Roger Roger couldn't stop barking at Benny when I let him off leash so he went back on before long. It's amazing how stark the contrast in his behavior is depending on whether he's on the leash or not. Benny put up with his packmate's antics and tried to play with him, but grew tired of being barked at and started to ignore him. Sputnik and Rucksack were both worked up over seeing Roger Roger so worked up, and we practiced staying calm and not get...

Adventure Pack
Mamacita, Milo, and Benny all had an enormous amount of fun bounding through the freshly-fallen snow today. Mamacita befriended a couple other playful pups in the distance and brought them over to the rest of the pack to greet everyone. They all had lots of fun together.

Thompson watched intently as a group including a couple other Huskies raced around by him, and he joined in for some brief spurts here and there...
