Wesley kept up on the hike today without any resistance (like grabbing his leash in his mouth).  He was right at my side the whole time.  He seemed a little confused by the water spout from my Camelbak at first, but he got used to it pretty quickly.  Coco continued her tireless hunt for grasshoppers.  I'm not sure if she's caught any, but her enthusiastic persistance hints that she probably has at some point when I didn't notice.

At the park, Coco got Lun...

Mogul had a grasshopper catch a ride down the trail on his back today.  Meanwhile, Coco was back to diving after the ones that jumped across the trails all around.  Rucksack was busy carrying sticks and didn't take notice of the grasshoppers.  Mogul didn't notice his passenger for a while, but did at one point and spun around trying to get to it.  After his unsuccessful attempt, he just ignored it and kept on moving.  The grasshopper hopped off back into the grass a m...

Today was Wesley's first day out with the Adventure Pack!  Wesley is a very sweet, almost 6 year old Golden Retriever.  He got along well with Toskey and Coco.  They weren't especially playful with one another, but they didn't have any problems at all either.  Wesley did a good job of keeping up on his first day, though at one point about halfway through the hike when we had just about reached the highest part and were about to start heading back down, he grabbed the leash...

Coco had a morning of Weimaraners during today's hike: at the beginning of the hike we passed a woman with a 2 year old Weimaraner mix with a very playful spirit.  He and Coco were instant friends and they bounded around through the brush for a little while before we headed on.  Further up the trail, we came across another Weimaraner!  There wasn't as much open space in that area, so they didn't get to chase each other, but you could tell by the way  they were both poised ...

Coco and Rucksack started off today's hike by chasing each other through the tall grass, while Mogul was chewing on some of the grass to settle his stomach (which I'm told was bothering him earlier in the morning).  For the rest of the hike, though, Mogul seemed fine.  He was actually at the head of the pack for much of the time instead of lagging behind as he often does.  Coco found a big stick to carry around.  It was a bit unwieldy and she had to hold her head up high t...

Coco was on the hunt for grasshoppers again during today's hike, but didn't catch any.  We'll be walking along the trail and then all of a sudden she's nose-first into the brush after seeing a grasshopper land there.  She carried a stick down from the first Flatiron.  Every now and then she dropped it and seemed like she was going to leave it behind, so I told her "go get your stick!" and pointed to it, and she excitedly grabbed it up and carried on.

Luna's se...

On today's hike, Coco and Rucksack started off with a good run with each other.  Mogul kept up throughout the hike but wasn't into chasing.  About halfway through the hike, we came across some people visiting from Florida who have a Labradoodle of their own at home.  They passed us on their way down shortly before we headed back down ourselves, and we caught up to them when we were coming down.  At the time, Rucksack was carrying a stick and he kept running up to the last ...

Coco and Toskey ran up and down the trail side-by-side once they were let off-leash on today's hike.  Every so often during the rest of the hike, Toskey would start to lag behind a bit; when she picked up the pace to catch up, Coco would pause while facing her, poised for ambush, and leap on her as soon as she caught up.  This usually resulted in a short run together, until later in the hike when Toskey was getting tired and just shrugged Coco off.

Luna had her fir...

Grasshoppers beware: Coco is out to get you.  She was pouncing after them during the hike again today.  There are a lot of them out this week - especially along the Baseline Trail that follows Baseline from the Chautauqua trailhead to the Gregory Canyon trailhead.

Rucksack's favorite yellow soccerball was becoming his favorite brown soccerball from all the dirt on it and it had a couple holes and was starting to fall apart, so it's not at the park anymore; but ...

Coco spent much of today's hike hunting grasshoppers, though she never caught one.  I was glad to see that the scratch on her eyelid is all healed now.  Rucksack got a haircut over the weekend!  Although the shorter hair on his body didn't pick up much debris on the trails, the longer hair on his face still did; in fact, he had more foxtails to pick off his face today than I think he ever has before.  Mogul lied down in the creek at the beginning of our hike and was hesita...
