Adventure Pack
Thompson was a wanderer today, as he followed the lower trail at CU South while the rest of us took the upper trail. While there, he waded through some muddy water as he sniffed around and explored. Eventually, I convinced him to rejoin the rest of the pack on the upper trail. Mamacita made a playful bow and woofed at one pup who came up to say hello to us, while Sputnik made a less inviting display. One dog we passed started barking at us f...

Adventure Pack
When I let the dogs in and out of the car, I call them each, by name, one by one, to come forward while the rest of the pack waits their turn. Clover and Monarch are starting to understand that they can't just barrel out of the car as soon as I open the door; however, I think Clover is having a little trouble knowing when it's her turn because her and Coco's names sound similar. She isn't as pushy when I first open the door, but she always starts forwar...

Adventure Pack
The pack was quite rowdy at the outset of our hike at the CU South trails this morning. Coco, Mamacita, and Sputnik all barked at the first couple dogs we saw. While Rucksack maintained composure with the passing dogs, he was in a mood to pull on the leash. As we continued on our hike, everyone gradually settled down and fell into a nice, comfortable rhythm.

Adventure Pack
The pack came across a pair of horseback riders on the trail at CU South this morning. Coco and Rucksack were the most intrigued, with Rucksack staring intently with rigid posture and Coco making a low growl as we walked by. Mamacita made a few high-pitched whimpers of excitement, while Sputnik hunched slightly and passed by with an air of caution and respect.

Adventure Pack
Coco, Sputnik, and Mamacita enjoyed a trek along the CU South Campus trails together. There were several other groups of dogs on the trails this morning. Sputnik growled at the first dogs we passed but then stayed calm and kept his attention on me as we came across the others. Coco and Mamacita just trotted along happily.

Adventure Pack
Despite temperatures in the teens, Thompson apparently felt it wasn't cold enough and therefore decided he should splash around in the mucky water in the ditch beside the trail this morning. Before heading home, we made a quick stop by the Creek to wash some of the muck out of his fur. Sputnik had a mix of good and not-so-good greetings with passing dogs today. He gets so anxious whenever the other dog starts to show any interest directed back at ...

Adventure Pack
Coco and Sputnik enjoyed some time off leash together at the CU South trails this morning. There was a long stretch where I could see no other dogs were coming, so I didn't have to worry about Sputnik's ambivalence about greeting new dogs. The two of them ran and dodged around with each other through the tall grass off the side of the trail. I eventually hooked Sputnik back up to his leash and he trotted along with me the rest of the way while Coc...

Adventure Pack
Sputnik had a couple friendly greetings this morning, including with a pair of sweet, white-and-tan dogs who's breed I couldn't quite place, but appeared to be some type of hound. They came up and sniffed hello gently with Sputnik and Rucksack after first giving a passing sniff to Coco. Rucksack was on leash at that time because he had just returned from running off after something I didn't see, and had temporarily lost his off-leash priveleges. E...

Adventure Pack
Coco and Rucksack happily greeted the several dogs we saw during our hike at the CU South trail this morning. When there were no other dogs nearby, they both wandered far off the trail to sniff around in the snow. Meanwhile, Sputnik and Mamacita were both a bit wired and anxious about passing other dogs, as Mamacita made whining noises and Sputnik growled a couple different times. Mamacita did her patented rear-back-and-lunge-forward move repeated...

Adventure Pack
Sputnik was a little less fiesty when he was off the leash with Coco this morning. They still chased and dodged with each other, but Sputnik didn't go on any long sprints that left Coco in the dust. Meanwhile, Clover walked very nicely on the leash and Monarch was in a bit of a pulling mood, though she did better when I repositioned them so that Clover was walking at the outside and Monarch was walking between us. Monarch requires little coaxing t...
