Leader of the Pack

A couple months ago when we had our first day on a new path during the walk and we were headed back toward the car, Mogul stopped dead in his tracks.  He was very resistant to going down the fork I chose and it took a lot of coaxing.  Several minutes later, I realized that I had lost my bearings and took the wrong way where Mogul had stopped.  He must have been trying to tell me as much.

Marley chased a black lab mix named Charlie all around the park today.  They were both FAST, and they kept going and going and going!  Charlie turned the tables a few times and chased Marley, too, but it was only when Marley was doing the chasing that they really ran at full speed.  When Charlie was doing the chasing Marley just seemed to be teasing him.  It seemed like she was the one who was really in control between them the whole time.

Chelsea and Marley are always so excited to greet each other that they can hardly contain themselves in the packmobile.  They LOVE pawing/chewing at each other and they did a good deal of it today - both in the car and at the park.  They also had fun playing the same way with Buzz while they all hung out in the shade under a picnic table.  Chelsea found a little daschund that caught her interest for a bit, and Marley frolicked all around the park as usual.

Chelsea played tug-o-war over a frisbee with Charlie today.  Eventually a couple other dogs became interested.  Chelsea and Charlie dropped it when the other dogs started harssing them for it, and they all started dancing around it trying to establish ownership.  When the other dogs were all paying attention to one another, Chelsea grabbed up the frisbee and trotted away with it, head held proudly in the air.

Mogul snuck his head up onto the armrest in the packmobile again this morning.  I snapped a picture of him this time - he was so adorable!

It's muddy out as the snow is melting, but Chelsea and Mogul had a lot of fun playing in the snow that's still left on the ground.  They both love to play catch with snowballs made from it, dive around in it, eat it, and sometimes just bury their faces in it!

Mogul and Chelsea took their usually positions during the walk today - Mogul hanging back a bit on my right side and Chelsea up next to me on the left - until the latter part of the walk when Mogul decided to pull up and walk right at my side.  He got a little spooked by the rumbling of a train above as we went through an underpass, which I think inspired him to stick a little closer to the pack.

Mogul met a big black lab mix right when we got to the park that he really wanted to play with.  They danced around for a little while before the other dog had to leave.  Then Marley stirred Mogul up into chasing her around at high speed.  At first Mogul seemed unimpressed, maybe even annoyed with Marley jumping all around him, but then he took off after her with a playful bounce in his step.  Marley found a lot of different dogs to chase her during our visit today!  ...

It's beautiful outside today!

Marley found a lot of different playmates to chase her around the park.  First it was a couple black labs, then what looked like a bluetick coonhound mix, and finally a yellow lab right before we left.  She's great at goading other dogs into a chase, with all of her hopping and dancing around.  She's a bundle of energy - and FAST!

Marley met Chelsea in the packmobile today with play bows and tons of energy again.  The two of them played together a lot at the park.  Marley also found an Australian Shepherd to play with her for a while.  She hasn't been coming over to me to check in as frequently this week, as she's getting more familiar and comfortable with the park and all the other dogs that are there.  She roams the whole area, heading toward any other playing dogs so she can get in on the fun!

Mogul and Chelsea were great on the walk today as usual.  We stopped a couple times for Chelsea to do her business - she was a little runny.

Marley was very excited to see the pack today - especially Chelsea.  The two of them were already starting to play in the car when we first picked Marley up.  I had to tell them to wait until we got to the park, and they managed to contain themselves until then.
