Adventure Pack

Ruffers, Mamacita, and Sputnik hiked at the Chautauqua together this morning.  Everyone lingered for a few minutes at the trailhead to sniff around before hitting the trail.  We passed a very young puppy and the pack passed on by pleasantly.  However, Ruffers and Sputnik pulled at their leashes as we approached another dog a little while later, and Sputnik started to growl so I pulled the pack aside and had Sputnik lie down and chill out for a minute...

Sputnik had an outburst over a dog who passed by the car just after we parked by the trailhead this morning, so we spent a little while lying down and relaxing before we hit the trails.  Once we set out, he stayed calm as we passed other dogs on the trails.

Sputnik had a solo hike at the Chautauqua and had some nice, calm encounters with passing dogs.  He got to run around off leash for a stretch and had a blast.

Isaac and Coco both had fun rolling around on their backs in the grass beside the Boulder Creek Path this afternoon.  Ruffers and Thompson were not tempted to join their packmates in their display of wild abandon.

Adventure Pack

Luca, Chelsea, Sputnik, and Stella all hit the trails at the Chautauqua together this morning.  We took several water breaks on our way up the steeper end of the Bluebell-Baird trail for our pack of mostly senior dogs to catch their breaths and cool off.  Once we made it up the mountain, the rest of the hike was an easy dscent down and around the other side.

Adventure Pack

Chelsea joined the pack for our hike up the Anemone and Red Rocks trails this morning.  Sputnik took an interest in her and tried laying his head over her back a few times as they were walking alongside each other, but I put a stop to that.  Chelsea, Sputnik, Mamacita, and Ruffers all hopped into the stream at a couple points along the way.  Mamacita and Sputnik waded through the water as it ran right next to the trail for a stretch.

Sputnik enjoyed a dip in the stream and then leapt out in a playful burst, seemingly expecting one of his packmates to pop up and run with him.  We encountered a few dogs along our hike and Sputnik was a good boy throughout.  We spent a little time at the end of the walk lingering at Eben G. Fine Park in the vicinity of one dog.  Sputnik lied down with me nearby and relaxed.

Mamacita, Thompson, and Sputnik hit the Red Rocks Trails this morning.  They all hopped into the stream at the same point where Sputnik and Mamacita got in earlier in the week.  They all came out of the water calmly this time, though with a little bit of resistance.

Adventure Pack

Sputnik had a solo walk this morning and we took some time to work on staying calm around other dogs.  We didn't encounter many, but whenever we saw one we took a little time to hang out nearby.  At one point, I had him lie down and roll over onto his side, and he did so without much fuss.  I believe it was a productive experience.

Mamacita and Sputnik enjoyed hiking the Red Rocks Trails together this morning.  They took a quick dip in the stream on our way down the mountain and then hopped out of the water with playful dodges around each other.

Ruffers joined Sputnik and Mamacita for our outing this morning.  She and Sputnik were both very happy to see each other after having spent a couple weeks boarding together and getting along great.  Mamacita and Ruffers made some playful moves with each other, as well, as we walked the Boulder Creek Path.
