The Adventure Pack

Benny was in a playful mood on the hike and ran in circles around the trail with his ears and limbs flailing about goofily.  Coco and Rucksack watched him intently and wanted to bolt after him, but they were both on leash at the time.  Wesley wasn't impressed by Benny's antics at first but Benny was persistent and finally Wesley chased him around a bit.

Benny and Rucksack chased each other up and down the trail today.  We met a white Poodle or Poodle mix along the way who hopped around with the pack for a bit.  Oliver had to let his presence be known a few times because the excited pup getting stepping over him.  There are some big patches of snow left a little way up the Mesa Trail and Rucksack and Benny both stopped to scoop up few mouthsful.

We headed up the Mesa trail for today's hike.  The trails were surprisingly empty considering how nice the weather was.  Rucksack carried a stick along for a short while and none of his packmates contested him for it.  Toskey was more interested in sniffing alongside the trail, as was Coco on the opposite side.  Benny stayed a bit back from the rest of the pack but seems to have gotten out of his habit of stopping suddenly in place.

Rucksack found a stick early on in the hike but Benny swiped it and then carried it for about half the time.  After Benny lost interest, he just dropped it along the path.  When I noticed he didn't have it anymore, we backtracked so Rucksack could get it.  Rucksack was totally on it.  He carried it all the way back to the car from there, where he finally dropped it.  I let Coco and Benny have a gnaw on it for a minute before I tossed it...

The squirrels weren't as busy today, but we did stop by the creek so Rucksack and Wesley could watch the ducks swimming.  We met a couple friendly dogs early in the walk and everyone got a good sniff.  Coco stayed pretty calm and Wesley was a perfect gentleman, though the leashes got a bit tangled up.  After our new acquaintances continued on, I asked everyone to sit in place so I could get the leashes straightened out.  Benny started to sta...

Rucksack carried along a big stick today.  After he picked it up and had a job to do, he was much less interested in pulling ahead on the leash.  Benny leaned over occasionally to gnaw at the stick while his packmate carried it.  Oliver was vocal toward other dogs that passed by us again while his bigger packmates just continued on, uninterested in any confrontation.  Mogul was less determined to leave scent marks along the way today, but he...

We had a good walk along the Boulder Creek Path today.  Rucksack pulled less on the leash and Coco and Wesley were easier to settle down when they saw the occasional squirrel along the way.  Coco was very picky about choosing where to poop until it seemed like she didn't have a choice anymore and just had to go where she was standing.  I wonder why none of the spots she sniffed seemed suitable to her.  Benny and Rucksack were both ...

We passed some friendly people today who stopped to pet the pack.  Oliver was first to say hello and then Benny and Rucksack hogged all the attention.  Coco got jealous and groaned in Rucksack's ear while he was getting pet but then she was hesitant and dodged around when they tried to pet her.
