Adventure Pack

Sputnik got to enjoy some time off leash at the CU South trails this morning.  He and Coco ran and ran together, though Coco couldn't keep up with Sputnik and often waited for him to make his way back around to her before picking up the chase again.  Meanwhile, Thompson was enjoying wandering around in the snow.  He was definitely in a good mood, as he was made for the cold, snowy weather we had today.

The pack was feeling very playful this morning. Coco and Sputnik bowed and dodged around with each other at first, and then Clover decided to join in the fun. Sputnik leapt over his packmates as they danced around together. Eventually, everyone settled down and we kept making our way along the trail. Rucksack and Coco were feeling playful at the outset of today's hike and made some playful bows and dodges around each other.  Later on in the hike, Rucksack narrowly missed having his head peed on by Sputnik.  Sputnik had found an interesting spot to sniff and was really rubbing his nose in the ground to take it in.  He proceeded to scratch the dirt up a bit to get an even better whif, and Rucksack came over to check it out just as Sputnik was satis...

Sputnik and Mamacita were wired out in the cold this morning.  They both growled and got jumpy at the first dog we passed on the trails.  Coco and Rucksack were effected a bit differently by the cold, as they were both very eager to greet the dogs with tails wagging happily.  We kept our distance, though, since the pack wasn't on the same page.  Later on, Mamacita had settled down and didn't react to the last dog we passed, although Sputnik stil...

Sputnik and Coco saw several dogs on the trails this morning.  Sputnik has been staying calm with other dogs pretty consistently for a while now.  The only time he reacted today was when one dog stopped in place, staring at us.  That drew a return stare from Sputnik and a brief, shrill growl that he cut out as soon as I got his attention and told him to sit.  Once sitting, he kept his attention on me and stopped worrying about the other dog, who...

Thompson was eager to lead the pack this morning and needed frequent reminders to stop pulling ahead and stick with the group.  Meanwhile, Sputnik was pretty distracted by the smells along the side of the trail and kept pulling over to check them out.  Mamacita, Coco, and Thompson sometimes joined in to sniff alongside Sputnik, but most of the time they just wanted to keep moving.

Sputnik, Coco, and Mamacita had a nice hike at Shanahan Ridge this morning.  We encountered a few other dogs along the way and the pack passed by happily.

Rucksack found a stick to haul for part of the hike as he and Coco trotted the trail together, off-leash.  Near the end of our hike, Rucksack spotted some deer in the distance and couldn't help himself from chasing them off.  When he returned to the pack, Coco leapt around playfully to greet him, which got Sputnik hopping around and making playful moves, in turn.  Mamacita must not have noticed the deer, because she didn't react at all even though ch...

Thompson, Sputnik, Coco, and Mamacita enjoyed hiking Shanahan Ridge together this morning.  The trail was pretty quiet but we did come across a couple joggers, a handful of hikers, and a handful of other dogs along the way.  Thompson and Sputnik were both very interested in sniffing off the side of the trail and leaving scent marks along the way.  Coco and Mamacita were content to trot along the trail and only occassionally checked out the scents tha...

Coco and Sputnik enjoyed an off-leash romp together at an empty stretch of trail this morning.  Sputnik was especially excited to run and made big loops through the brush.  When he came by Coco, they would leap around each other a bit and then Coco would chase Sputnik off to run another big loop.
