The Adventure Pack

We took the Boulder Creek Path today and passed a lot of people as we went through downtown.  Sage, who can be a bit skiddish around strangers, did very well.  Oliver, who is sometimes a bit confrontational with passing dogs, trotted along without a care even when a dog walking by barked at us.  Benny and Sage were equally unfazed.  We kept up a good pace and made it all the way from Eben G. Fine Park to Scott Carpenter P...

The Play Pack

Oso walked up and down the shoreline of the pond at the park today.  He ventured out a few steps now and then, but still wasn't keen on getting in for a swim.  We met a Rhodesian Ridgeback named Calvin who Oso followed around a lot.  Calvin came over to Benny and the two of them bowed back and forth playfully while Oso kept trying to lay his head over Calvin's back.

The Adventure Pack

We took a lot of breaks along the way today so Toskey, Benny, and Oliver could investigate all the smells brought out by this welcome wave of moisture.  Toskey was the most curious about the smells to discover and lingered as much as possible at each spot.  Benny followed Toskey around but lost interest after a few moments.  Oliver just stayed at the edge of the path and watched his packmates curiously.

The Adventure Pack

Benny stayed out of the water altogether today, but Sage and Oscar both had a swim.  Oscar did a lot of chasing with an active young Shepherd mix who played well with him.  Later, Oscar and Benny wreslted around, with Oscar dodging in and out between Benny's legs and darting all around him while Benny moved slowly, always several steps behind.  Meanwhile, Sage had a couple competitors who came and went while she was chasing down tennis balls....

The Adventure Pack

Benny wasn't keen on moving very quickly today, but I was able to get him into a trot every once in a while by sort of jogging in place to make it seem like we had to run.  Reaching for the treat pouch also proved effective in getting him to catch up.  Oliver has been so much friendlier with passing dogs lately.  He did get a little wound up when one dog passed us today, but he just wiggled in place and pulled at the leash a little - no leaping u...

The Adventure Pack

It was relatively cool along the Creek as we followed the Boulder Creek path through town today.  We took a break under a bridge and Toskey and Rucksack immediately headed for the water, with Benny following soon behind them.  As we continued on, Toskey and Benny were really into following scents that went off the sides of the path, which I indulged to a point.  Rucksack ignored his packmates' findings and was just interested in co...

The Adventure Pack

Isaac and Rucksack had a great time chasing each other up and down in the stream, leaping up out of the water as they went.  After a good, long romp we continued on and practiced heeling off-leash, and Rucksack and Isaac both did a great job.  I've had some trouble with Rucksack rushing off ahead in the recent past but we've had a very productive week!

The Adventure Pack

Oscar joined Rucksack and Sage for today's hike.  Oscar and Sage know each other from the Play Pack, and although Rucksack isn't in the Play Pack, he and Oscar usually see each other in the packmobile in between activities.  Everybody took the opportunity to hop into the stream on our way to the Anenome Trail - even Oscar, who has been a bit hesitant to go out into the lake at the East Boulder dog park (although he did do a little swimming yesterday)....

The Adventure Pack

For the first time I've ever seen, Rucksack got tired out on the hike and lied down to wait behind me.  On other hikes, he's trotted over to some shade and lied down for a minute as I and his packmates caught up; but he's never stayed behind despite my urging him to catch up.  I'm not surprised, since our hike ended up taking over 2 hours because halfway down Mt. Sanitas we came upon a blockade across the trail for restoration and had to turn around a...

The Adventure Pack

Rucksack and I had a good time walking along boulder creek today.  We stopped in the shade for a few minutes when I noticed he had a number of burrs stuck in his moustache; I teased the hairs around them away and got out all the burrs I could find.  Rucksack was a bit impatient at first, but then settled in and let me finish before we continued on.

Sage spent most of her park visit swimming today.  I ...
