Adventure Pack

Coco and Rucksack ran the trail together today.  Rucksack was so excited to run with Coco that he occasionally let out yips of enthusiasm.  In the midst of their play, Coco managed to home in on a skunky spot along the trail and did her best to bring the smell along with her.  Roger Roger was less pushy with his packmates today and didn't nibble on anyone's ankles.  He found a stick to carry for a bit until Benny snatched it out of his jaws....

Sputnik and Roger Roger can't get enough of each other.  They started off the hike wrestling around and it took some effort to get them to take a break and walk along with the rest of us.  Later in the hike, Benny and Rucksack had some fun together when Benny found a branch with some leaves still on it and he picked it up and ran from Rucksack to start a game of keep-away.  Rucksack caug...

There were a lot more dogs out on the trail today, including a couple big groups with other dog walkers.  When we passed by, all the dogs enjoyed greeting and got along nicely.  Roger Roger gave Milo and his brother Rucksack some attention, though his elders weren't very interested in being chewed on by a puppy.  Coco ran around up and down the trail today and was a bit stubborn when it came time to come back and go on leash again, but she eventually...

We had the trails mostly to ourselves again today, and they were a bit muddier today than yesterday.  Sputnik, Roger Roger, and Rucksack all played some keep-away with one another over a couple different sticks they discovered along the way.  Benny and Oliver stayed out of the fray and contented themselves with sniffing along the trail.

The trail was pretty empty today, presumably due to the cold, damp conditions.  Milo, Coco, Benny, Rucksack, and Roger Roger didn't seem to mind it, though.  Roger Roger again took an interest in Milo and nosed and nibbled at his ears as they walked together.  Milo put up with it for a while until he finally gave his puppy packmate an irritated snart and Roger Roger got the message.  Of course, he just turned his attention to his brother Rucksac...

We passed by the same two horses again on the trail today and the pack was still a bit on edge as they went by us.  I know Rucksack has a penchant for chasing after deer, and I think the same impulse translates to horses as well.  The whole pack practiced coming together and sitting numerous times along the trail today, especially if someone started wandering a bit too far ahead.  Everyone's responsiveness to being told to sit has been improving....

Sputnik and Roger Roger had fun wrestling around again today.  Sputnik also played keep-away from Benny with a stick that the two of them had spent a little while sniffing and contemplating beforehand.  Sputnik just kept spinning in circles in one direction while Benny followed right behind the stick.  We still have some work to do on greeting other dogs calmly without rushing over and swarming them.  Rucksack and Oliver are usually the first to...

It was a beautiful day for hiking today!  Roger Roger was less persistent with wrestling than usual and only nudged Milo casually and occasionally.  I think Milo prefers the more mellow displays of interest and affection from his puppy packmate.  Osito started the hike off in a very stubborn mood and tried to back out of his collar a couple times but after just a few minutes of negotiations that didn't work out in his favor he decided to give in and ...
