The Adventure Pack
Today's rain stopped just before the morning's hike started; but that didn't keep Rucksack and Coco from getting soaked. They ran around through the tall, wet grass so much that before long they were totally drenched. They kept up their play energy throughout the hike with only brief and occassional. The latter part of the hike was taken up by physical negotiations over stick-carrying priveleges.

The Adventure Pack
Coco and Rucksack had tons of energy today. Usually they have a bout of hard chasing and wrestling for the first 10 minutes that they're off leash together and then they cool down a bit, but today they kept at it with one another for half an hour! Later on, Wesley had fun exploring the brush off the sides of the trail while Rucksack carried along a big piece of a branch. Wesley's footing seemed a bit unsure in the rougher areas off-trail, and ...

The Adventure Pack
Rucksack found a stick he liked early on during today's hike. Within moments, he had Coco's interest. She came running toward him and he spun at the last second to keep the stick away from her; but Coco was clever and anticipated his spin, and met him face-to-face and grabbed the stick out of his mouth before he knew what happened. She dropped the stick a few seconds later and let him carry it for a bit, and then tested him again and came away...

The Adventure Pack
Coco and Toskey started the hike off-leash together today, and they ran and ran together. Toskey was really great about breaking off her play and coming to me when I called her, and then Coco followed Toskey wherever she went. For the latter half of the hike, Wesley went off-leash with Rucksack. He took advantage of his first length of time off-leash with the pack by trotting through the brush and mopping up some of it in his long coat. ...

The Adventure Pack
Coco and Rucksack always like to start off their hikes with a quick side-by-side dash up the trail that usually results in a wrestling match as they wait for me to catch up to them; today was no different! It sometimes seems like Coco bullies Rucksack into playing with her but today Rucksack was clearly the instigator as he kept leaning his head over her back and nudging her with his nose until she responded. Later on, Rucksack and Coco both found r...

The Adventure Pack
Mogul and Coco started today's hike off-leash together. We went back to Chautauqua again due to the Mountain Lion sightings at Sanitas, and hiked up the Flatironette. The two of them both stuck close by, and neither of them were interested in carrying sticks or anything today. Rucksack and Fletcher went off-leash for the latter half of the hike and the two of them kept running up ahead on the trail and then back. Fletcher made a habit of...

The Adventure Pack
I planned on taking the pack to Mt. Sanitas for this month, but when we got there today I saw a sign posted about Mountain Lion sightings in the past couple days and it said that dogs shouldn't be let off leash there, so it looks like we'll be hiking in Chautauqua a little longer. At Chautauqua, Coco and Rucksack romped and wrestled with each other even more than usual. Wesley, who was on leash and rarely pulls at all, tried to run along with his pa...

The Adventure Pack
Rucksack found a tennis ball along the trails that Toskey left behind on our hike yesterday. When he popped up from the side of the trail with it, Brady became very interested, but Rucksack kept it for himself. Brady had no trouble keeping up on his first hike with the Adventure Pack. When we took a brief break at the peak of our route, Mogul sat down right next to me and enjoyed some petting. Earlier in the hike, we came across a couple...

The Adventure Pack
Coco greeted all of her packmates with her usual excitement today. Her tail is a dangerous weapon when she's happy! Wesley always politely ignores her as he just waits to get out and walking; Rucksack tries to ignore her but she's more persistent with him and they eventually end up gnawing on one another; Toskey is just as animated as Coco when the two of them greet each other and there's lots of mouthing, whining, and groaning between them. O...

The Adventure Pack
Rucksack started off today's hike with a stick he found along the side of the trail. However, it wasn't long before he found a tennis ball left behind by another dog, and he opted for that instead of sticks for the rest of the hike. Coco found one of the signposts along the trails to be worth a good long sniff of about a minute or so - I wonder if she recognized the scent of whoever had marked it.
