The Play Pack
Coco and Osiris had lots of fun in the snow together this afternoon. Coco chased Osiris around and Osiris ran and wrestled with a regular at the park named Sammy. Sammy kept trying to chest-butt Osiris when they wrestled, but because Osiris is so big and sturdy Sammy just ended up on the ground every time. I made some snowballs and threw them for Coco, which she really enjoyed. When she didn't catch them, she searched around in the snow tryin...

The Adventure Pack
Coco had a blast on her first day back in Pack Activities. She loved the snow and had an extra kick in her step as she leaped and bounded around the trails. For a while she had her nose down to the ground and seemed to be following a scent. When we came to forks in the trail, she took several forks in a row that followed the same path Wesley and I walked yesterday. Sometimes she stopped and used her paw to brush snow away and get a bette...

The Adventure Pack
Wesley stayed at my side for most of the hike today and didn't do as much wandering and exploring as yesterday. I found a pinecone and gave it to him to carry so he would have a job. He took it and brought it along for a while until we passed another hiker, at which point he dropped the pinecone and forgot about it as he greeted the passerby. He also met a miniature Goldendoodle and the two of them danced around playfully for a minute before p...

The Adventure Pack
Wesley was the only pack member today, but he still had a lot of fun. It was nice having a chance to interact with him one-on-one. He liked running up the trail ahead but was so responsive whenever I called him back to me. We came across several friendly dogs along the trails at Sanitas. The first was a mix of I can't even guess what - he was about the same size, shape, and demeanor as our pack member Mogul, but with a solid super-dark-b...

The Play Pack
Brady and Mable played with each other a lot at the park today. Pico followed her usual routine of hagning around by herself for a little bit when we first arrived, and then spending the rest of the time goading other dogs into chasing her. All three pack members were really interested in a stout Pit Bull that showed up, and they follwed him around for a little bit. They also met a little Chihuahua named Tito who loved to run, and got Brady, Pico, ...

The Adventure Pack
Rucksack and Wesley were very playful with one another during today's hike. They did a lot of leaping and dodging, and Wesley made some doggy snow-angels. Coco and Rucksack did a lot of running when they had time off leash together. Coco and Wesley didn't play with each other today and instead wandered around, sniffing and exploring, when they had their turn off leash together. Rucksack loved eating snow off of boulders and ended up with...

The Adventure Pack
Mogul really enjoyed chasing Coco around during today's hike. It was really cute when Coco dived behind a huge tree and Mogul stayed on the opposite side; then, everytime Coco tried to come around one side, Mogul met her face to face and Coco spun around and tried to go the other way and Mogul met her there. They went back and forth around the tree like that for a good minute or so. Rucksack chased Benny around when they were off leash togethe...

The Adventure Pack
Rucksack and Wesley starter today's hike off-leash together as we went up the Four Pines Trail to Koehler Mesa. The two of them were very playful with one another today and did a lot of romping around and back-and-forth chasing. When Coco and Toskey had their turn off leash together, they had just as much fun. When Coco is involved in a game of keep-away, she's almost always the one doing the teasing; but today it was Toskey who taunted Coco w...

The Adventure Pack
Rucksack found the stick he and Coco played with last Friday, and carried it along for the first half of today's hike. I offered Wesley a small stick of his own to see if he would play like he did last week but he just stopped in place and chewed the dry piece of wood apart, then carried on and left the remains behind. We passed another Golden Retreiver on the trails who had a very similar body type to Wesley, and I wonder whether they may have been...

The Adventure Pack
Benny seemed really sleepy this morning, and his eyes were leaky. He perked up once we started hiking, but I wonder whether he might have a cold. Mogul left a lot of scent marks along the way today; it seemed like every few minutes when I looked back he was kicking dirt up after leaving a mark. Coco and Rucksack enjoyed running together side-by-side today. Rucksack was usually just ahead of Coco, with Coco nipping a the scruff of his nec...
