Adventure Pack

Isaac joined Mamacita, Sputnik, and Coco for the hike this morning.  The weather was very comfortable and everyone was very good as we made our way along the Mesa Trail.  Sputnik and Mamacita kept heading into the brush at the side of the trail to sniff around, while Coco and Isaac trotted along on trail at my other side.

Sputnik was happy to greet a friendly hiker we passed on our way down the mountain, when the man asked if he could pet the dogs.  Coco and Mamacita were feeling a bit more standoffish and didn't go over to say hello, but Sputnik made up for their disinterest with his enthusiastic greeting.

A dog passed by us on our way up the Chautauqua Trail and the pack was continuing on nicely until Sputnik decided he needed to growl to make a point at the very last moment after the other dog was already beyond us and on his way.  I took a moment to address Sputnik and have him lie down, which he did promptly while the rest of the pack stood in place and waited calmly.  We passed several other dogs along the trail after that and Sputnik behaved himself m...

Mamacita joined Coco and Sputnik for our hike this morning.  Yesterday's wind was past us and it was beautiful weather for being out on the trail.  Sputnik and Mamacita both sniffed around in the brush a lot at the outset of our hike before they were satisfied enough to get moving along the trail.

Coco, Sputnik, and Mamacita enjoyed our hike at the Chautauqua this morning.  The wind mostly held off until the last 15 minutes or so, which was nice.  We came across a regular trail-goer who used to hike with his Golden Retriever before she passed away, and he was happy to see the pack.  Sputnik was eager to say hello, while Mamacita sniffed cautiously from a couple feet away before accepting a pat on the head, and Coco kept busy sniffing around th...

Coco and Sputnik enjoyed a romp off leash together along an empty stretch of the trail this morning.  Sputnik tried to bait Coco into a chase but Coco didn't want to make the first move.  When Coco finally flinched, Sputnik went on the offensive and gave Coco a good run before they switched roles and Coco got to chase Sputnik after all.

Thompson and Sputnik were both very interested in sniffing around in the brush and leaving scent marks along the trail this morning.  Mamacita and Coco didn't feel the need to leave their marks like their male packmates, though Mamacita did a lot of sniffing around in the brush as well.  Coco was content to stick to the trail and watch hikers as they passed by us.

Mamacita, Coco, and Sputnik were all calm and friendly with the dogs we saw on the trails today, after their not-so-friendly moods last week.  The weather was perfect for hiking and the pack enjoyed sniffing around in the brush beside the trail as we took our time coming back from the loop at the Mesa Trail.
