A lot of people on the trails stopped to say hello to the pack today, and the dogs loved the attention.  Benny was usually first to mosey over poke his nose at people.  Then, when Sputnik saw his packmate getting attention he would promptly butt in.  Milo and Mamacita waited patiently for the people to come to them.

Sputnik got a little growly at the first dog we encountered today and then Milo decided to growl back at him to tell him to cut it out.  I had everyone sit and they all settled down promptly.  We encountered a lot of other dogs on the trails today and Sputnik kept his cool for the entire remainder of the morning.  Benny had a burst of playful energy on our way down the Ski Jump Trail and bounded out ahead then ran circles around the rest of us.  ...

Sputnik and Oliver were easily agitated by passing dogs at the outset of our hike today, so I brought the pack off the side of the trail a short distance to have them chill out while more dogs continued to pass.  Milo and Benny were totally content to flop down in the grass and wiggle and sniff around a bit, while I worked at keeping Sputnik and Oliver's attentions on me while dogs went by on the trail.  When they eventually seemed ok, we moved on and the...

Mamacita, Milo, and Sputnik enjoyed a leisurely exploration of the trail this morning.  Everyone took their time to sniff out various points of interest along the way.  It was a calm and pleasant time for everyone, even when we saw some passing dogs along the way.

Adventure Pack

Oliver and Benny explored together while Sputnik and Milo walked on the leash with me this morning.  A couple different pairs of friendly hikers asked to greet the dogs.  Sputnik was the most forward in saying hello, though he managed not to jump up on anyone.  Milo and Benny enjoyed some back scratches.  Oliver was too busy sniffing around to be bothered to say hello to strangers.

Milo and Mamacita both enjoyed the snow that's still alongside the trail.  Milo wiggled around in it as he likes to do, while Mamacita hopped through it playfully.  Sputnik growled a little at one dog we saw early on, but he stayed cool for the rest of the hike as we passed various others.  Benny and Sputnik were both very happy to see a hiker we regularly see on the trails, and he was equally happy to say hello to some of his favorite dogs.

We encountered a couple dogs at the trailhead this morning and Sputnik did a good job of staying relaxed and not reacting.  He and Milo both made slight groans as they watched an excitable Golden Retriever hopping around and whining as he greeted the other dog a little up the trail from us, but they were both easily distracted when I called them over to make a little more distance.  The trails were totally empty for the rest of our hike due to the incleme...

There were a lot of interesting smells wafting from the damp ground this morning and the pack was eager to take them all in.  Milo and Sputnik were particularly interested and spent much of the hike with their noses working in overdrive.  Thompson was content with briefer sniffs followed by the depositing of scent marks.  Mamacita was disctracted every now and then by the wildlife that stirred in the brush.

Milo enjoyed a romp in the snow today, complete with some doggy snow-angels.  Mamacita hopped through the snow just alongside the trail while she walked on leash with Sputnik and Thompson, who both trotted along and occassionally stopped to pee on points of interest.
