Adventure Pack

The pack stayed together and calm throughout our hike today.  Even when a couple friendly dogs came over to say hello Oso, Coco, Milo, Rucksack, and Roger Roger all kept four feet on the ground and gave an enthusiastic but polite greeting.  It was still pretty muddy along some sections of the trail, but nobody got especially messy.

Sputnik found a stick to chew on the trails today.  He wasn't content just having it for himself, though; he flaunted it and swung it around to make sure his packmates all saw his prize.  This prompted both Benny and Roger Roger to try to steal it from him.  He managed to hold onto it until his packmates, and he in turn, lost interest.  Oliver and Rucksack both let the others vie for the stick while they trotted along without a care.

Adventure Pack

Thompson and Stella joined Coco, Benny, and Milo on today's hike through the Chautauqua.  Thompson spent most of the time trying to lead the way, but he gradually became less and less insistent about walking ahead of me as we went.  Stella and Milo trotted nex to one another and kept right by my side.  We had several pow-wows throughout the hike to practice sitting and keeping everyone's attention together, and the pack did very well.  We passed...

Adventure Pack

Milo and Rucksack enjoyed exploring the trail off leash together today.  Rucksack quickly found a stick to haul for the journey while Milo ran through the remaining snow.  Later on, Roger Roger and Benny romped and wrestled with one another.  Coco was unfriendly with the first dog we passed so she stayed on the leash and we worked on staying calm and composed whenever we went by other dogs for the rest of the hike.

Adventure Pack

Roger Roger nibbled on Benny's cheek again today and Benny took it in stride, occasionally opening his mouth wide to show Roger Roger that he could fit his whole face in it if he wanted to.  Sputnik and Roger Roger wrestled around a bit near the midpoint of our journey while Rucksack watched intently, poised to hop in at any moment; though he never did.  Oliver spent most of the walk directly behind me, but he went for a couple stretches at the front of t...

Adventure Pack

Roger Roger started off today's outing by sniffing and nosing at Milo's face, which Milo took in stride.  Roger Roger started to squat in the middle of the sidewalk and I directed him off to the side and then lavished him with praise after he finished his business there.  Oso enjoyed lying and stretching out in the snow when we took a break around the mid-way point.  Coco got worked up over a dog who passed us, who was whimpering with anticipation ab...

Adventure Pack

Roger Roger and Benny enjoyed harassing each other as they walk side-by-side, nibbling one another's ears and mouthing at each other's faces.  Sputnik walked calmly beside Rucksack for most of the time but had a playful burst near the very end of our outing and dropped into play-bows while looking at both Rucksack and Roger Roger.  Rucksack didn't take the bait but Roger Roger did and they had a little wrestle.  Oliver trotted along behind me and was...

Adventure Pack

Benny, Rucksack, and Milo all enjoyed scooping up mouths full of snow as we made our way today.  Meanwhile, Coco was much more docile than usual and walked directly behind me rather than trying to pull ahead as she usually tends to do.  Roger Roger answered nature's call while walking on leash, mid-stride, in the middle of the path, just a couple minutes after I gave him an opportunity to go on the side of the path and encouraged him to "go potty".  ...

Benny probed Milo's face with his tongue as they walked side-by-side today and Milo responded by mouthing Benny's snout.  Roger Roger was also interested in getting Milo's attention and occasionally gnawed at his hind legs, which Milo gracefully ignored.  Coco and Rucksack had their usual exchange of excitement when they first hopped out of the car to start the morning, which is mostly just Coco harassing Rucksack to make sure she has his attention.

Adventure Pack

Roger Roger and Benny wrestled around at the beginning of today's outing.  After a while, Sputnik got jealous and joined in, but I had him sit and let his packmates play a bit so leashes didn't get too tangled up.  Later on, Sputnik found a stick to carry and he had fun swinging it around to show off to his packmates.  At one point, Rucksack started growling with a deep rumble, which is completely out of character for him.  It took me a minute t...
